Reto Finance formed in 2019 following a local management buy-out of established and respected finance company Shawbrook International.
The opportunity was clear – then and now. To provide our customers with no-nonsense, competitive lending services tailored to local market conditions.
Reto means ‘challenge’ in Spanish – in 2019, we set out to challenge the local lending market. We won’t stop until you’re satisfied.

Chief Executive Officer
Adam set up Shawbrook International Limited in 2016 and then in 2019 Reto was created from a buyout of the Shawbrook business . Prior to this, Adam spent 7 years building and managing a specialist lending business for an established Bank, after working for 10 years as a Management Consultant where he worked across all areas of Financial Services.
Adam is an experienced business leader with a strong focus on specialist lending in the Consumer and SME space. He holds an MA in Leadership from Exeter University, where he also mentors first year undergraduates.
A resident in Jersey, Adam juggles work with a busy family life and trying to keep fit!
Non Exec Director
Mike was a career Banker and latterly, Managing Director of RBS International, Corporate Division and Chairman of the Bank’s Funds business.
Mike has extensive lending and general management experience and is currently an Non-Executive Director on two FTSE 250 Companies as well as a Swedish and Japanese Private Equity Groups.
A resident of Jersey, Mike enjoys travel and an odd game of golf when time allows.
Robbie joined the business in 2017 after having had 15 years of experience in the Banking and Finance sector. Robbie has worked across a range of Financial Services businesses but primarily within the Real Estate sector where he has worked with customers to acquire, develop and refinance both residential and commercial property.
At Reto Finance, Robbie headed up our Business Development team until the close of 2022 prior to moving to his new role as Commercial Director. While focusing on building the business brand, supporting and growing existing & new relationships outside of lending, he will continue to apply his expertise to real estate opportunities under the group. Robbie enjoys working with customers to tailor solutions to their individual needs and has the ability to be flexible in his approach and think outside of the box.
Away from the office, Robbie enjoys spending time with his young family, watching sport and when he gets the chance to, playing golf.
Head of Business Development
Aaron joined Reto Finance in February 2021, bringing 13 years of experience in the Banking and Finance sector. Aaron has worked in various roles within the sector, with over a decade of that being in a commercial environment. Aaron is adept at providing a flexible range of lending solutions to a varied profile of clients and has a particular enthusiasm for dealing with local SME’s.
As our Head of Business Development, he works closely at building long lasting relationships with both existing and new clients, including local SME’s, those in the real estate sector and individual consumers. Outside of work, Aaron enjoys spending time in the gym or playing sports & considers himself a connoisseur in films.
Head of Operations
Claire joined the business in the summer of 2017, bringing 30 years of Financial Services experience with her – from Private Banking to Property, Underwriting to Sales Support. ICSA-qualified, Claire now ensures our customers are given the highest levels of support and service as they join us.
From Argentina to Antarctica, the Himalayas to Herm, Claire is also a keen adventurer and loves to travel.
Sales Support Administrator
Kay has amassed broad expertise in financial services during her career, including 12 years in Consumer & SME lending. In her previous role with Close Finance (CI) Limited, she held the position of MLRO for the Guernsey office and managed the office which included front of house and back-office duties. Whilst at Close she held an underwriting mandate of £20,000 Secured and £3,000 Unsecured.
Kay joined the company back in January 2019 (formerly Shawbrook International), and even though she is based in Guernsey, she works closely with the Sales Support team in Jersey to ensure that all deals and payouts are processed in accordance with Reto Finance policies and procedure, with the importance being on the customer’s end to end the journey.
Kay enjoys working as part of a committed team and has found it exciting to be involved in the growth of a business which offers more choice to people and business owners who value the service provided.
The saying “First impressions count” is a motto that Kay likes to live by, and she is passionate about making the credit journey for all clients (both Consumer and SME) a pleasurable experience as possible from the start with the aim to make her employers stand out from the competition.
Head of Finance
Nicky joined us in January 2023 after 19 years working for another local lender. She is responsible for all financial aspects of the business, having over 30 years’ experience working in all areas of the consumer and asset finance industry. She completed her accounting exams in 2014 to enable her to focus on the finance role.
Her interests include supporting NUFC, spending time boating and now her children have flown the nest, her passion is being a devoted doggy mummy of two.
Business Development Manager
Richard re-joined Reto Finance in November 2021 after originally joining the company in January 2018 at the initial start-up of the Guernsey office.
Richard has over 8 years’ experience in consumer and SME lending and looks forward to helping clients across the islands.
Sam joined Reto in January 2022 and has 20+ years’ experience working in the local Finance Industry. Sam worked predominantly in the Banking Sector as a Relationship Manager, however due to Sam’s extensive knowledge and experience with AML/CFT and compliance related matters, her career naturally progressed within the Compliance field.
Sam gained an ICA compliance qualification in 2017 and has since worked for regulated Financial Service firms within the Banking, General Insurance Mediation and Trust sectors.
Client Relationship Manager
Claire joined Reto Finance in April 2022, with over a decade of experience in the finance industry up to that point. Having worked in various roles within the sector, Claire has developed a strong network of clientele through understanding a client’s needs and delivering efficient results.
A confident and positive individual with an adaptable approach, Claire has helped a number of individuals and businesses on the island take their next steps. Outside of work, Claire enjoys watching rugby (especially the Dragons) and attending live music events.
